If you have never had a motorcycle of your own it is a good idea to get familiar with the components of the motorcycle and what they are all called. Improperly starting your motor by causing it to constantly turn over, or starting your motor when it is already started can cause serious damage to your starter especially if it is done on a regular basis.

It is important to know how to kick start a motorcycle so that you aren’t left stranded and so that you don’t cause damage to your motor. Different motorcycles start in different ways, some have keys that start them, some have button push start and some have kick start or a combination of starting options. We have these available in our store - simply look for 'speedometer kit'.Kick-starting a motorcycle is a fairly simple task but it is easy to mess up if you have no idea what you are doing. Q - Is there a speedometer kit available that will plug into this loom without any wiring modification?Ī - Yes, we have available a compact LED speedometer kit that comes with a universal fitting kit, this kit is built specifically for this loom (plug & play) - no wiring experience required. Upgrading the headlight bulb to an LED variant will also extend battery life somewhat. Remember, batteries do not last forever so you would need to recharge your 12v battery regularly and if used in this way we would recommend using a Lithium or Li-Po type battery for longer life, over using a standard 12v lead acid battery. Q - Can I run this kit on my bike even if I don't have the 2 charging stator wires on my bike?Ī - Yes, however you will require a 12v 4ah minimum battery. Just connect our loom to your bikes two charging/stator wires and this will keep the battery charged and your lights bright. but as most Japanese motocross bikes do not have 5 pin CDI's, its just a case of leaving your existing wiring on your bike to run the engine as normal and running our light kit alongside it separately. Q - Will this kit fit KTM, CRF or YZF enduro or MX bikes?Ī - Yes, although we have never fitted these ourselves we have sold many of these kits to customers who have fitted them to these bikes. If you have no 12v supply already (spare white/yellow or yellow/yellow wires), you will need to replace your stator for a 12v version, we have these available in our store. NOTE* To stabilise your lighting system and prevent flicking from the stators alternating current, we recommend the fitment of a 12v 4ah minimum battery, this will provide a DC output to the headlights smoothing the lighting output.Ī - Yes this kit will fit all pit bikes. NOTE** The loom supplied with this kit is suitable for electric start bikes and will connect directly to your existing battery. Please check the specifications above to make sure it fits your bike, motorcycle, dirt bike, ATV or pit bike. In most cases this kit will fit straight on or alongside your bikes existing set up. If your bike does not have these as standard then your bike will need a few extra parts to run this kit of which we can provide separately if needed.

A 12v supply from your stator - An easy way to check this if you are not sure is by looking for two wires (usually) that are not currently in use from your engine.NOTE: To ensure this kit can be used on your bike without modification. We make this kit as simple as possible for installation on your bike, with included installation instructions to guide you along the fitment process.
